Well done, ladies. July 26 2008

Brudirect removes insensitive tabloid. Sometimes you have to draw a line when it comes to publishing controversial stories. Brudirect crossed the line today by posting a sensitive issue that has caused an uproar among the locals. But I do salute Ignatius for taking prompt action in removing down the article and the video link. Though some damage has been done, it's time to move on and let's forget of the past.

Oh yeah, I wonder how the motto of Brudirect came about as Brunei's No.1 News Website ;)

Well done, RA. What a match!! Who would have thought that a team that was just two years old and yet pushed one of the national ladies basketball team to the limit? Despite going down to one of the favourites Muara Gas, it was only 5 point difference. I remember last year we lost by 40 points (73-32) and this year it was a very big improvement losing 65-60. So I am really proud of my team's performance last night though I have to say about the inconsistency of the refereeing. But I wouldn't want to use that as an excuse.

Muara Gas, coached by Esmond Tan, a talented basketball player, was under pressure to win after losing to Ismakom in their first game. They are really solid in defence as well as their offensive rebounds. I think the difference between our team and MG last night was the free throws. We only converted 4 free throws while MG converted 15 free throws. Zhen, No.9 of MG was their star player scoring 23 points and she was dominant in the paint, winning crucial offensive rebounds and scoring an impressive 7 free throws. Fei was their second top scorer with 12 points and she scored a 3-pointer on the buzzer to make it 30-24 at half time.

But Ranoadidas.com didn't back down. I was even surprised that we were leading 5-1 at the beginning of the game. Fizah Dudley, who had a so-so effort in the first game, was on top form scoring 6 3-pointers and ended up with a game high 26 points (Zul, you should have highlighted this as well as Zhen's outstanding performance in your report ;)) Juan also had a commendable effort with 19 points. However, in the second half of the game, our team was handicapped with our Nigerian centre Wande and playmaker Amalina Awang being fouled out. Though I have to say our bench played a good part with Amalina, Michelle, Lynn and Rauufah pressuring the opposition.

It was a back and forth match and I believe we gave MG a good fight and even the supporters who came were really into the game. I would like to thank the supporters once again for their presence and thanks CK and Gerald for coming too. And thanks to MG for making our players confident and better in their game. This is definitely a good experience for my players and thank you, Coach, for your contribution. Final result: Muara Gas 65 Ranoadidas.com 60

This afternoon (at 5pm) we will be playing against another top opposition Ismakom formerly known as Teik Goldsmith in last year's tournament. They are favourites to lift the cup after beating both MG and Malar Setia. If Ranoadidas.com played the same quality as last night, it will be another interesting contest. The star player for Ismakom is definitely their import player Kerry.
