This is one solid reason why Malaysia can bring in the numbers to their country - great marketing and powerful FAM trip all year round. I think every year they have about four FAM trips allocated for Brunei market and I usually get sent to at least two of those FAM trips. Their numbers in terms of visitors just kept on increasing and increasing because of their strong promotion and plus Malaysia has a lot to offer.
Two days ago, F1 Mega FAM trip had a welcoming session to 25 countries that took place at Istana Hotel. They had a few welcoming gimmicks such as blind massages, F1 racing with PS2 platform *eeeerr..*, cultural shows and even some minor health check since Tourism Malaysia has also included Health Tourism as one of their objectives. A very good move indeed.

Congrats to the Brunei Rugby team for finally registering their first win in the competition of the 2009 HSBC Asian 5 Nations Rugby as they beat Cambodia in a close match 25-18 at Laos. Last Sunday, Brunei lost to host Laos 28-5 in the tournament's opener match. Brunei is pitted in the same group with Laos and Cambodia in the three-team event.
Before the Brunei Rugby team departed last week, Tareq Muhmood the CEO of HSBC Brunei sent the Brunei team at the Brunei International Airport. The Brunei team is made up of 24 of the best players from six local teams that were selected in November last year. Since the formation, the players have been training hard and have even competed in five training games against teams from Sabah and Sarawak in a run-up to the tournament.
The team, managed by Ainol Razman Ghazaly and coached by Mark Pyrgos with Ben Bourne as the assistant coach, will also face Cambodia at the 15,000 all-seater Savannakhet Stadium. The Asian Five-Nation Tournament is an annual international rugby union competition held between the top five Asian sides.
Now in its second year, the competition devised by the International Rugby Board (IRB) and sponsored by HSBC has been designed to help developed the sport in the Asian region. [Images: James Kon]

It's a fun and now it has been regarded as a sport. Present during the clinic is invited guest from Malaysia, Doug, who helped to train those who attended the session. The 3 day clinic ends tomorrow and for those interested, you can try out the session today (8am and 3:30pm) later at UBD. I think it's gonna be at the rugby field itself.
The Frisbee clinic is organised by Brunei Adventure Recreation Association (BARA) and Aniza Ishak is the chairperson of the Ultimate Frisbee Organisers. Aniza recently returned from Norway on her training for the Women's Antarctic Expedition. Doug has helped build the sport in Malaysia for many years and now they are competing internationally. Singapore is also quite competitive in this field from what Doug was saying.
So guys, if you are interested or planning to catch the clinic, it's later today at 8am and another at 3:30pm at UBD Sports Field.

Hey peeps and especially to those up north, there will be the 6th Brunotts Easter Games 09 tomorrow with more than 360 participants. Did you know that the registrations were fully booked in less than 24 hours? That really shows how competitive B.E.G is.
The games - the biggest Bruneian sporting event in the UK - start at 10 am on 22 March, and continue until the finals at 545pm. Games will be held at various locations, University Park Sports Centre (indoor) for football, University Park Sports Centre (outdoor except for finals) and Jubilee Sports Centre (indoor) for badminton.
Last evening, the two Polar Girls - Dk Aniza and Dk Era - flew off to Norway for their intensive training course and only one will be selected to take part in the Commonwealth Antarctic Expedition. Though only one will be chosen, both ladies have put Brunei Darussalam on the world map. They also will be joined by other countries during the training and this will be a good experience nonetheless.
The Brunei Adventure Recreation Association (BARA) has been the driving force in helping the "Polar Girls" such as the fund-raiser activities that was held recently. Shahiran Shefiffuddin (BARA Secretary) stated that the amount raised was $9492.13 - from public donations, registration fees, futsal tournament and other fund-raising activities.
Adiman Hj Wahid, BARA's VP, said, "We still have a long way to go until the Brunei flag is standing proudly at the bottom of the World. But BARA is ready." The expedition has also been supported by Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Women's Council, Royal Brunei Technical Services (Women Society) and many more.
Good luck, ladies..
