Hj Ismadey wins BND 100,000 from BIBD's quarterly wish campaign. Wow... It has become a reality.. Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam awarded one of the Wish Campaign winner BND 100,000 as a quarterly prize winner and he is no other than Hj Ismadey Hj Hussin. He finished his "Os" in 1997 and sacrificed his time to support his family.
So what was his wish? Well, he wished for a house for his family to live in so they can have comfort and happiness. Congrats dude for the prize and I wish you guys well.
So guys, let's start making wishes that you want to fulfill and plus you can start saving as well and who knows your wish can be granted by BIBD. Hj Mohd Rozaiman, BIBD's Head of Consumer Banking Division, said that we need to cultivate the idea of individuals to save and the Wish Campaign's vision is to create a generation of debt-free Bruneians and embrace those less fortunate.
The guest of honour was YAM Pg Anak Khairul Khalil who presented the prizes to the eight winners of the BIBD Wish Campaign. Also present at the ceremony was the Minister of Development and Chairman of BIBD, Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdullah Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar.

Great achievement for the ladies. I was reading today's Borneo Bulletin and came across two great news - Datin Hayati being appointed as the first lady Attorney General. Congrats, Datin, and that is one heck of a milestone for a Bruneian lady.
Datin Hjh Hayati (pic inset) was appointed by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at a swearing ceremony at the Istana Nurul Iman yesterday. Her appointment has been well received by the legal community.
Dayang Rokiah Swed complimented Datin's appointment, "She is the best for the job. It will be a new beginning for all of us. Their wisdom and even temperament will surely go a long way as guidance for all of us."
In another milestone which I read in today's paper, Wana or Siti Saffawana Hj Suhaili, became the first female chopper pilot. She claimed that her biggest achievement in life was when she took off the helicopter. After 54 weeks of training with Helicopter Adventures Incorporated in Florida (I miss Florida *sigh*), she returned to Brunei for a contract signing with Brunei Shell Petroleum.
Congrats to you both and these are milestones that we Bruneians should be proud of. Keep it up

Mulaut BBQ popular among locals. I came across it during my visit to the Pasar Malam few weeks ago and I actually tried their lamb with potatoes and yum, yum, yum.. I was quite impressed and now wonder there was a long queue of people lining up at their stall.
But the gerai perayaan is over, you can head over to their outlet at Rimba at Bangunan Radin. Just behind Le Stadium Restaurant or you can call 880 0055 for more details. All the set meals are ranging from $4.00 and you can choose chicken, lamb or steak.. So what are you waiting for guys? I shall make my visit soon.

For those who wants to catch me on Twitter, you can click this link - http://twitter.com/ranoadidas. I realised how FB has helped increased my "followers" in just an hour by pasting my Twitter link on my status.
My Twitter alert on gmail just kept piling in the first hour or so. I'm still learning Twitter but I think it's a pretty good tool to keep in touch with others apart from the ever popular FB who's taken the No.1 spot in the most visited website in Brunei.

This is something new that has been introduced to the public and it's the idea of having a SMS alert to tell you that your passport is ready for collection (for renewal of passport, visa etc). The SMS service was launched last Thursday at the Immigration Department with the Minister of Home Affairs officiating the launch.
I saw Expansys Technologies logo on the main page of the online registration so I assume ITPSS are collaborating with them as well as TelBru. But it remains to be seen how effective the system is but I'm sure it will be a big hit since it will save time for the public. I also had a chance to visit the passport area at the immigration. I'll have to update my passport to the biometric one soon. Yes, it's quite convenient if you are traveling aboard.

Yes, I occasionally fall into this category where I couldn't get my Speedlite 580EX-II to fire from my body. This is when Mr. Handyman (Zamri Zainal) comes to the picture to help me out to fix the Speedlite Hotshoe and he has done it twice for me. The problem with my Speedlite is that it's not as tight whenever it's being fixed on my 50D. Ah well.. Maybe I need to get a new Speedlite again, aye?
Anyway, I want to share with you on Jan Shim's DIY "Canon Hotshoe Micro Switch Fix". I find this post very useful especially for Canon users and who knows it might just work on others. Surprisingly enough, with a big of some McGuyer effect, he was able to fix a misfiring Speedlite 580EX-II on his 20D body. You can click here to read further.
